Spring Events Round-Up

It’s certainly early days in this years tri season but the  “premier crew” are off to a flying start! We’ve had a good number of results, age group placing’s and PB’s set, what more could we ask for? The weather has not looked fondly upon some of us. My first race at the Thames Turbo race 1 brought only wet and windy conditions, this was also the theme of the day for my first Time Trial (TT) on my new baby Deano (TT bike). Weather aside, I managed to pull out a 1.09.14 for the Thames Turbo and 1.08.43 for the 25mile TT.

Phil ‘the ironman’ Lester also suffered at the hands of the gods for his first marathon of the season up in Manchester. This aside, he flew home in an amazing 2.59.30, putting him neatly in the sub 3 marathon category! His warm up races also showed his ever improving form with Brighton Half wrapped up in 1.20.03 and the Kingston breakfast run (16miles) in 1.40.07. What is this man capable of in the Bolton Ironman?

Thames Turbo Race 2 (430m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) was our best club turn out so far and what a beautiful morning this was. David Rees smashed his previous course time by an inspiring 11 minutes, bringing him home in 1.09.49.  Other notable performances include Vicky Frosdick (1.21.48),  Andrea Havill (1.22.10), Emerick Kaitell (1.19.52), Paul King (1.13.30) and Al Lydon (1.24.55).

Some of the other crew have been mixing it up with duathlons and aquathons. Elizabet Stojanoska brought home a age group win at the Maxifuel Standard Distance duathlon with a time of 2.24.05. Emerick Kaitell also dusted off his trainers for the season at the Super Sprint version of this event and came away with a time of 50.39. Duncan Sanders opted for the Kingfishers Aquathon (400m swim, 9k run) and romped home in an impressive 46.45.

The final mentions go to Chris Hall who completed the Reading half marathon in 1.55.40 and Vicky Frosdick who also ran the Kingston Breakfast (8 miler) in a very speedy time of 63 minutes. Here’s to hoping that the early seasons form bodes well for the rest of the season. Please check out our facebook page for a selection of photo’s from the above events.
